If you are anything like me, wearing vibrantly colored makeup can be a bit intimidating. There's always the risk that you will make one wrong move and end up looking like a clown. Luckily, I have found an easy, fun way to add color into your makeup routine without taking things to the extreme!
It only involves one step: applying a brightly colored eyeliner (preferably waterproof) to your bottom lash line. This is a trick that anyone can do to instantly add interest to your eyeshadow look! I think that it is a great way to ease yourself into wearing color because it is not being applied all over the lid.
To balance out the bold liner, it is always a safe choice to use neutral shades on the lid. You can also choose to use eye shadows that would be considered a complementary color to the shade of your eyeliner. For example, in the photographs below I chose a turquoise liner. Since blue and orange are complementary colors on the color wheel, I chose to use an orange-toned shadow in the crease of my eyelid. Another good combination would be gold and purple.
To create this look, I used the NYX Retractable Eye Liner in the shade Aqua Green. These eye liner pencils are incredibly pigmented and glide on effortlessly. The waterproof formula will ensure that the liner will stay in place all day long! And as a bonus, there are 13 different shade options priced at only $5.00!
Another tip that you can follow when wearing color on the eyes is to keep the rest of your makeup (blush, lipstick, etc.) simple. This allows all of the attention to be focused on your beautiful eye look! I used the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in the shade Exposed, along with the NYX Lip Lingerie in the shade Bedtime Flirt. This kept the overall look soft and simple, which makes it wearable for everyday!
Of course, if you wish to add a more colorful blush or lipstick, feel free to do so! Too much color can seem overwhelming to some, but don't be afraid to rock it! The great thing about makeup is that there are no rules and you can always experiment. At the end of the day, it can always be washed off!
I hope that you found this to be helpful! If you have any requests for any other makeup looks, or would like for me film a video showing how I achieved this look, just let me know!
